In this issue of Surgery, Wente et al

propose a consensus definition of delayed gastric emptying (DGE) after pancreatic
surgery. This is the third in a series of articles published by the International
Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) aimed at standardizing the reporting of
complications that follow pancreatic resection. The 2 other articles, previously published
in this journal, dealt with the definition of pancreatic fistulae

and of postpancreatectomy hemorrhage.
