from the University of Wisconsin investigate the effects of parathyroid surgery upon patients with tertiary hyperparathyroidism (3HPT) after kidney transplantation. They conclude that for patients with 3HPT, parathyroidectomy (PTX) is curative; however, it is substantially underused. The University of Wisconsin group have published extensively on PTX for patients with secondary and tertiary forms of hyperparathyroidism and are recognized experts in the field. In this cohort of patients, they demonstrate that PTX is highly effective and safe therapy for 3HPT.
