Response to “Re: Cost-effectiveness of immediate biopsy versus surveillance of intermediate-suspicion thyroid nodules”

Published:December 07, 2018DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.surg.2018.10.030
We thank Dr. Tessler and his colleagues from the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging, Reporting and Data System (ACR TI-RADS) committee for their letter. They are correct to note that our manuscript discussed the points system and recommended biopsy thresholds reported in the latest ACR TI-RADS white paper without citing this reference.

We apologize for the oversight and commend the ACR for its continued efforts to standardize the reporting of thyroid ultrasound exams. Combined with evidence-based guidelines for biopsy and surveillance, this system will improve the management of patients with thyroid nodules.
