Perusing our August 2022 issue of Surgery it became clear to us that surgical science continues to evolve beyond techniques,
technologies, and “traditional” outcomes. Entire new realms of surgical practice have
arisen and are now fundamental to the discipline. Disparities, diversity, equity,
inclusion, humanitarianism, wellness, and coaching have been important themes in recent
research and publications.
