We are delighted to share the news that Surgery’s impact factor rose to 4.384 from 3.982, an increase of over 9%. This >9% increase
rise in the impact factor ranks us 36 out of 211 journals in our category and places
us in the 83rd percentile, the highest percentile for Surgery since 2017. The metrics that measure journal performance are dramatically changing
and are designed to provide more information about the reach of a journal rather than
the impact of articles cited from a paper issue. We are exceptionally grateful to
our readers and authors who continuously steadfastly contribute to and consume our
content and use it to justify observations in their work. We appreciate and are indebted
to you for your impressive engagement and steadfast loyalty.
