Abstract
Data are presented to indicate that the efficiency in utilization of nitrogen administered
intravenously as casein digest in man closely approaches the efficiency of utilization
of nitrogen when ingested orally as food protein. The conditions of the clinical experiments
recorded here favored, in themselves, a greater loss of nitrogen during the periods
in which the digest was administered, as compared with the periods in the same patient
when nitrogen was ingested as food protein.
